If you follow Karena Virginia on social media, then you know her beautifully inclusive and open-hearted message of love and miracles. I got a chance to sit down with her at Sat Nam Fest Berkshires and talk about her message, as well as her much-raved about workshop at the festival Inner Light Outer Glow and her wonderful new book, co-authored with Dharm Khalsa, Essential Kundalini Yoga.

As I anticipated, Karena was overflowing with uplifting and helpful words for anyone struggling, for anyone who doesn’t see the gifts available to them — so much so that this is only part one of our interview. (You can read part two here!)

Sat Nam Fest: You have such a passion for spreading the message of love. How did this come to be so important to you?

Karena: I’ve seen way too many people in pain from fear and so many people blocked from the gift that the heavens have to offer. It’s a calling. I feel so compelled to remind them what’s real. If I don’t do it, I don’t feel content with myself. I figured this out several years ago. I could be at a five-star resort with my husband on a business trip. I could be in these environments where everyone was saying, “Oh, this is so perfect,” and I felt so blah because I wasn’t spreading the message of love. I felt an emptiness. In some ways, it’s a selfish act. I’m not happy when I’m not constantly living my destiny, which is to give inspiration to people, to remind them that miracles and magic and love are possible for every single person because we’re all God’s children.

Sat Nam Fest: One thing that really stood out for me in your amazing Inner Light, Outer Glow workshop here at Sat Nam Fest was the phrase “step into the miracle zone.” What is the miracle zone?

Karena: One day I was meditating, and I was just so blissed out. I asked myself, “What is this?” And I realized I was in a very different vibration. In that moment, I realized that every single thing in the world was possible. I knew that all the impossibilities were possibilities. I knew it with absolute certainty. That is the miracle zone. But, so many times we are unhappy, and we don’t understand why, and we blame other circumstances. We are stuck in blocking ourselves. We are in our own way.

Sat Nam Fest: So how does one get out of one’s own way and step into the miracle zone?

Karena: Mantra and chanting. I feel so blessed to have mantra in my life. When we’re chanting, we’re working those meridian points, and we’re changing the brain chemistry. It’s the combination of the physiological component and the spiritual aspect of opening the portal to the divine through these very sacred mantras. To me, sound and mantra are the gateway.

Sat Nam Fest: In your workshop, you also called on guidance from the angels. Can you tell me about how you advise people to work with angels?

Karena: We all have a team of angels, every single person. So many people think that they don’t deserve it or they don’t have it. No. Every single person has a team of angels. But, we have to request their presence. So everyday, after we meditate, we can call on our angels. We can use an affirmation, such as: I am protected by my angels. I thank you, my angels.

Sat Nam Fest: What kind of responses have you been getting to your book?

Karena: A lot of people say that it’s very accessible, and that it’s been life-changing for them, because they’re able to learn the science and technology without feeling like it’s way above them. I’ve heard from some people who’ve said that they’ve experienced some miracles already. Teachers are telling me that they recommend it to their students who ask for a book that explains what this practice is all about. It’s also been really helpful for people with Lyme disease. In fact, I know a Lyme disease specialist, who works holistically, who’s been giving the book to her patients. She says that so many people, who’ve never even practiced yoga before, are seeing benefits. Our book works on the energy and Lyme disease is a physical manifestation that is corrupting the energetic.

There is so much more that poured out of Karena’s heart. Look for Part Two soon for her thoughts on balancing a mainstream marriage with her spiritual practice, a powerful experience at Summer Solstice, her ongoing webinar series and much more. Sat Nam.

Cate discovered Kundalini Yoga by accident nearly 20 years ago and was surprised and thrilled by how engaged, energized, and inspired it made her feel. She’s been practicing ever since. In 2008, Cate completed her Level 1 (200 hr) teacher training with Hari Kaur Khalsa of Hari NYC. In 2012, she broadened her knowledge with a very special Holistic Hatha Yoga training (300 hr) with Amy Witmyer of Sacred Space. More recently, Cate completed her training in Shakti Dance™ with Dharma Devi Kaur, a beautiful dance practice that grew out of the teachings of Kundalini Yoga. She lives in Montclair, New Jersey with her husband and two teenage children, and she co-owns Montclair Kundalini Yoga, a business dedicated to sharing the teachings of Kundalini Yoga and Shakti Dance™ with all who want to experience it.
